This course covers industry fundamentals, and provides a comprehensive overview of successful manufacturing strategies. It examines the basic concepts and language as well as the relationships between Master Planning, Inventory Management, Forecasting, Just-in-Time manufacturing, Material Requirements Planning, Capacity Management, Distribution, Production Activity Control, Total Quality Management, and Purchasing. Part 1 introduces supply chain concepts and emphasizes basic terminology is divided into four major areas: business wide concepts for satisfying customer expectations, determining and managing customer demand, managing the transformation processes used to satisfy customers and managing the supply activity supporting transformation processes.
